SUMMARY:Hands on History: Atlatl Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Step back into human history and explore how ancient people extended their reach with powerful tools. For thousands of years, cultures around the world used spear-throwers such as atlatls and woomeras to hunt and survive. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how these tools worked and why they were so effective.\nDuring the session, participants will craft their own spear-thrower while exploring the science behind leverage, balance, and distance. Along the way, we will examine how different cultures adapted projectile technology to their environments. As a result, attendees gain a deeper understanding of human innovation and problem-solving.\nIn addition, this workshop blends history, engineering, and physical skill into one interactive learning experience. Participants will see how art and function come together in ancient tools. They will also learn what these devices reveal about hunting strategies and athletic ability across the globe.\nThis event is open to ages 14 and up. However, participants under 18 must have guardian approval. Waivers are required for all attendees. Because the workshop involves heat or fire, sharp tools, and materials that may burn or stain skin and clothing, age limits are in place for safety.\nOverall, this skill-building workshop offers an engaging way to experience ancient engineering firsthand. Whether you enjoy history, archaeology, or hands-on making, this session puts the power of ancient technology in your hands.\nSIGN UP HERE ( https://square.link/u/lSjCz8Qx )\n
