Adult Group Experiences

Come explore alongside archaeologists as we investigate a local archaeological heritage site. Join us in the responsible and respectful excavation and exploration of past cultures. May through October, we are in the field excavating at a local archaeological site. If you’re more interested in an indoor experience, we offer laboratory and experimental archaeology experiences year-round. Let us help you define what archaeologists do, represent Native Americans as people with a past, and practice stewardship of our historical sites and natural resources.

  • Adult Group Lab Experiences
  • Adult Group Field Experiences

Have a group of people interested in archaeology and willing to get their hands dirty? Join ARI archaeologists in cleaning, sorting, weighing, and counting artifacts! In this experience you receive a tour of our lab facility, a brief introduction to archaeology and the site/culture we study, and hands-on experience working with artifacts that we have excavated during our field season. We have stations where individuals will be able to experience each step of the analysis we do at our lab. You could be the first person in 1,000 years to see a design on a piece of pottery, or to see the wear pattern on a stone tool!

Help us uncover 1,000-year-old pottery, stone tools, shells, and many other artifacts through excavation, screening, and mapping
