Hands on History: Cordage

For many thousands of years, humanity has utilized natural fibers for the purpose of creating twine or rope, also known as cordage. In this workshop, we will teach you how to identify dogbane, also known as Indian Hemp. This plant has been used for cordage making in this area for centuries. Once you can identify dogbane, we will teach you how to break the plant into usable fibers and finally, how to take those fibers and combine them together to make cordage.
