Calling all curious and adventurous teens aged 13-18, this is your chance to delve into the captivating world of archaeology like never before. Get ready to unearth ancient secrets, explore fascinating sites, and unravel the stories of the people who used to call this region home.

At our camp, we believe in hands-on learning experiences that ignite your passion for archaeology. From engaging learning activities to thrilling field expeditions, our program is designed to provide you with an immersive and authentic understanding of this captivating science. Guided by experienced archaeologists, you’ll gain practical skills, engage in research, and uncover the wonders of the past.

Our Base Camp, located in historic Lawrenceburg, Indiana, serves as the launching pad for your archaeological adventure. Prepare to embark on an incredible journey through time, where you’ll work side-by-side with professional archaeologists in the field and in the lab. Explore our region’s rich heritage, hike local archaeological sites, and witness the marvels of ancient cultures firsthand.

Immerse yourself in STEM-integrated activities that bring archaeology to life. From learning the identification of native plants to mastering ancient techniques like pottery making and atlatl usage, you’ll experience the thrill of experimental archaeology firsthand. Our comprehensive curriculum also covers anthropology, empowering you to understand the broader context of human culture and society.

But that’s not all! As a participant of our Teen Archaeology Immersion Camp, you’ll develop a deep appreciation for the importance of preserving archaeological sites. Discover how archaeologists decipher valuable information from excavations, artifacts, and cultural features. Gain insights into the scientific methodologies behind archaeological research, and witness the real-world impact of this incredible field.

What’s Included:

  • Four days of guided archaeological experiences at the Guard Archaeological Preserve, ARI Teaching Lab, and other local archaeological sites
  • Camp T-Shirt
  • Transportation to and from local sites (if needed)

How To Prepare:

Wear hiking clothes that can get dirty. Bring your lunch, snacks, and water. Sunscreen, hats, bug spray, sturdy shoes, or hiking boots are recommended.
