The Story of Whiskey City is Coming April 26th, 2025
Welcome to the Great Miami Heritage Tour, an immersive experience that takes you on a journey through the rich history of Lawrenceburg and its surrounding communities. Led by an ARI (Archaeological Research Institute) Interpreter, this tour offers a unique perspective on the area’s past, going beyond mere names and dates found in textbooks. Put on your hiking boots and get ready to explore local archaeological sites, uncovering the fascinating stories of the people who have lived alongside the Ohio River for thousands of years.
This tour is broken into a morning and afternoon tour.
The Moring Tour, starting at 9:30 AM will cover places such as The Guard Archaeological Preserve (GAP), Oberting Earthworks, and Shawnee Lookout. This tour will also talk about some of the bigger history of the area.
The Afternoon Tour, starting at 1:00 PM is our cemeteries tour. This tour dives into the family stories and structures of some of the founders of this area.
*Please note that these tours will overlap and you are unable to book both tours on the same date.
Visitors are encouraged to wear hiking clothes and boots.
You are welcome to bring your own packed lunch.
Join us for an unforgettable experience at the Archaeological Research Institute (ARI) as we bring history to life through an Augmented Reality (AR) tour.
