WildCrafted: Christmas in October – Willow Weaving Ornaments
Some of the oldest basket weaving in the world is around 22 thousand years old. This form of technology has served humankind, allowing for the storage and movement of resources; therefore, it claims a significant spot in our development as a people. Baskets also aided in the creation of other materials, such as fishing traps and ceramics. Learning this skill will allow them to understand how precontact and postcontact peoples moved resources across the landscape, as well as a lifelong skill they can use to create functional and decorative objects for their living spaces.
Open to ages 8 and up with adult assistance. The restriction is due to the strength required to bend wood and thick materials.
