
Kids Outdoor Experiences
Through a series of engaging activities, young participants have the opportunity to learn about the methods and techniques used by professional archaeologists during excavations.
The Story of Whiskey City is Coming April 26th, 2025
Step into the shoes of an archaeologist and uncover the secrets of the past in a hands-on adventure! An indoor experience offers participants under 12 years of age a hands-on opportunity to engage with archaeologists, analyze artifacts, and contribute to ongoing research and preservation efforts. While the experience will vary daily, there is always something to get involved in.
Below are some of the activities you may be participating in depending on the team’s focus for the day:
Guided by expert archaeologists, this immersive experience deepens understanding of past cultures and highlights the importance of preserving historical artifacts for future generations.

Archaeologists often explore technologies from the past to learn more about how the people of that time utilized the tools of their place.

Virtual Reality: Walk through Guard village, explore different kinds of pottery, or try your hand at archery! Exploration awaits through our virtual reality options.
Learning Center Activities: Activities in the learning center allow you to investigate archaeology and the past at your own pace.
ARI Outfitters: Get your ARI swag and help support the preservation of our local history! There are lots of fun books, jewelry, posters, toys, and more at ARI Outfitters!
Wear clothes that can get dirty or wet, sturdy close-toed shoes, and do not forget to bring a sweater or sweatshirt- it can get chilly in the lab!
