ARI Adventure Trek:
Journey of an Artifact

The Archaeological Research Institute invites you to join us for the ARI Adventure Trek: Journey of an Artifact. 

A mentally and physically challenging fundraising event and party for everyone.  

Learn about what archaeologists do when they find an artifact! Complete the challenges the fastest to win a prize! After the race, enjoy vendor booths, a cookout, and learning activities for the whole family! 

Where does the run take place? At the Guard Archaeological Preserve and the Oxbow in Lawrenceburg, IN.

When: Rain or Shine September 21st (Weather Delays for thunderstorms & high winds)

Packet Pickup: 8:00 AM on the day of the race

  • Adventure Trek begins at 9:00 AM with staggered starts by decision
  • Adults 18+, Children 3yrs-17yrs

Adventure Trek Event Duration: 1.5-2 hours

After Party: 10:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Where to park: Parking: Hollywood Casino Parking Garage-Shuttle to check-in

Shuttle will run from 7:45 AM – 4:00 PM every 15 minutes

Cost: (Entry & T-shirt) **No Refunds**

  • Family Teams Division: $65- 2 adults & 2-3 children
    • Includes: 2 adult tees included (kids are free-unless they want a t-shirt)
  • Adult Teams Division: $110/per team of 4
    • Includes: 4 adult tees included
    • ages 18+
  • Student Teams Division: $100/per team of 4
    • Includes: 4 adult tees included
    • Registered students High School & College Age *Must show student ID at Check-In*
  • Wild Card Individual: $30/person
    • Includes: 1 adult tee
    • Individuals 18+ & will be placed on a team of 4
  • Pairs: $60/team
    • Includes: 2 adult tees
    • Teams of 2 adults (18+)

Activity Level: easy-moderate

What to Wear: Clothing that can get wet/muddy, sturdy shoes that can get muddy, hat, sunscreen

Terrain: Off-Road but extremely flat (gravel)

Prize for the top team by division: Team with the most points

Points to be awarded for the following:

  • Total Time to complete all tasks
  • Points for correctly doing tasks
  • Bonus Points for costumes by division:
    • Best Dressed Team
    • Best Team Name
    • Best Dressed Archaeologist
    • Best Barkeologist
    • Best Dressed Artifact

Who does this benefit? The Archaeological Research Institute a nonprofit organization that preserves and conserves natural and cultural resources in our region. ARI offers free educational programming and learning opportunities for locals and visitors of all ages.
