Youth Archaeology Immersion
MONDAY-FRIDAY 9AM-4PM
AGES 14+
This summer join our team of archaeologists to explore local archaeology. Our region is filled with human history… over 15,000 years of human history and these camps are your student’s ticket to exploring that history and archaeology.
Our Base Camp located in Lawrenceburg Indiana is where we start exploring our region’s past. Our camps focus on hands-on educational activities that are STEM integrated, where campers work side-by-side professional archaeologists in the field and in the lab. Campers also explore native plants, visit other archaeological sites, hike local archaeological site that demonstrate the concept of place, do experimental archaeology (like learning to use an atlatl and make pottery), learn about anthropology, and create their own research plans with a presentation to the public (parents, ARI staff, and field school students) at the end of the week.
Participants leave with an understanding of the importance of preserving archaeological sites, what information archaeologists can learn from excavations
